I started working at Hawthorne Animal Hospital in August 2007.  I received my undergraduate degree in Communications from Truman State University (formerly Northeast Missouri State University) in 1994, and gained my DVM from University of Missouri in 1998.  For the next nine years, I helped to grow Eastside Animal Hospital in southern Indiana.  My husband, a Presbyterian minister, found a position in O'Fallon, Illinois, that enabled us to be closer to family and brought me to Hawthorne.

My passion is dog agility, an exhilarating sport in which you direct your dog through an obstacle course and are judged on speed and accuracy.  Alex the Greyhound and Andrew the Sheltie both have titles and awards in this sport.  In training are Basil the Borzoi and little Whippet, Aidan.  Brigid the cat oversees the dog crew, and keeps them in line!  Please don't hesitate to ask me anything about agility;  it's a great way to bond with your dog and have fun.

  • Sherri M. , Veterinary Technician

I have worked at Hawthorne Animal Hospital since January 1997.  I am an outpatient nurse and was actually the first outpatient nurse we had.  I am married and have three children.  My two daughters are Lacey and Jessie, Jessie also works at Hawthorne on the Receptionist team.  I also have a stepson Drew.  I was born in Oklahoma but raised right here in Illinois.  I enjoy traveling and have been to all 50 states.  I love the mountains out West and enjoy hiking very much.  I was lucky enough to fulfill my dream of going to Africa and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in June 2008.  It was an amazing trip.

Some of my other interests are: raising ducks and geese.  The picture of the gray goose in the hallway at Hawthorne was my favorite old goose. He was quite a character. Sadly, Gray disappeared in December 2007.  I still miss him.  I also love to read. I read a lot of nonfiction historical adventure type books.  I have read a lot about Artic exploration, mountain climbing expeditions and encounters with wildlife.  I also have started making my own wine.  I like to make wine from local fruit.  I enjoy spending time with my family and am blessed that most of them live close.  I also am lucky to have a great Hawthorne family who make my job enjoyable.  I also love our clients and being able to help them keep their four legged family members healthy and happy.

I currently have four dogs: a Shih tzu, a Golden Retriever, a Red Bone Coonhound and a Newfoundland.  I also have three cats, one mute swan, two geese and a few ducks.
